Juvederm has disappeared completely after three weeks? What should I do? (photo)

Question

I had a full syringe of Juvederm injected three weeks ago. The practice promised the surgeon would do it himself, but a nurse injector performed it instead. The swelling made them look great, and even after it went down it was fine. But now they're back to their original size? The practice insists it was impossible and they'll get bigger over time, but I know that to be false. I paid a lot of money for these. Can I contact the Juvederm manufacturer or am I out all of my money?

It is possible that you were initially not injected with enough Juvederm. The swelling may have made your lips look adequate, but once the swelling went down you could see that there was not enough juvederm injected. Juvederm does not usually disappear after three weeks. Remember, the most likely reason for a less than optimal response is that not enough product was injected. I recommend you follow up with your original injector and voice your concerns. Personally, if it was me I would do anything to make sure my clients are satisfied with their results. Good luck!

You may have just needed more Juvederm than was injected. Follow up with your treating provider to see if more is needed.

The result you experienced initially was due to swelling. The Juvederm will not disappear this soon after being injected. From here, a touch up with more product will likely give you a better result. I would recommend contacting your injector and communicating your concern to him or her. I hope this helps, and I wish you the best of luck.

While one syringe may be plenty for some patient's lips one syringe was probably not enough for you to get the look you want.  I tell my patients that I treat with Juvederm in Orange County, if you like your lips with the swelling you will be disappointed in a few weeks.  It's not the filler going away, it's the rest of the swelling disappearing.  Have another syringe injected and ask the office if they discount additional syringes done soon after their initial treatment, we do that in my office in Laguna Niguel.

If your lips are not as full as you like, then you need more filler. I highly doubt that the filler "went away"  It takes months for it to break down.

The Juvederm didn't disappear, but what you liked was the result of the swelling, which means you need more product to get this result. While I don't like the "bait and switch" approach with the injector, I can see the result from your original picture to the after photo - it's not dramatic but I can certainly see the filler there. If you would like more volume you will need more filler injected to increase the size/volume. "This answer has been solicited without seeing this patient and cannot
