A size 4/6 5'9" I am not a fat girl. But I cannot wear a crop top, body suit, and look terrible in a bikini. I am ready to research a doctor to fix the problem. I have tried Sculpsure. Didn't work, prefer complete removal now. Looking at photos, what is recommended to fix my problem or type of lipo for such a small amount of fat removal? Tickle lipo etc?

Answer: How to attack that waist line "thickening" and get GREAT results?? Ask Dr Ellen That "thickening" of the mid section is surely every woman's worst nightmare! I've found that it is usually a combination of loose skin and localized fat. Although there is no (not yet) a nonsurgical device that will produce the level of skin tightening that we all seek, strategic and aggressive liposuction in the hands of a skilled surgeon can be very effective. You are right that the only way to sculpt this area is "complete removal now." Your pictures are pretty good but don't show a full frontal view. My approach would be to treat the back area and flanks while you lay face down. Then turn you to face up and treat the "front flank" area. In addition, a consultation would determine if any treatment of your abdominal area would also accent your waist. It looks like you may be a little short waisted with a high riding belly button. It's common for that figure to be more straight waisted than a long waisted woman. Aggressively treating this area will improve your chest-waist-hip proportion. Your skin will snug up more than it is now as it will adhere to the slimmer tissue below it.You're on the right track, good luck!In good heatlh,Ellen Mahony

Answer: Lipo of obliques, flanks, or back An exam would be required to confirm whether the waist can be made smaller with lipo and the hips fat grafted to give a rather significant change in waist to hip ratio. Liposuction results are highly surgeon dependent. I think that you will have a great result with the right surgeon. Find a board certified plastic surgeon with ELITE credentials (education, training, experience, favorable patient reviews, certification) who performs hundreds of liposuction procedures each year. Then look at the plastic surgeon's website before and after photo galleries to get a sense of who can deliver the results. Kenneth Hughes, MD, Board Certified Plastic SurgeonLos Angeles, CA
