Question

I was born with a weird shaped forehead, with two symmetrical deep indentations just above my temples. I been doing research on it as well but never really found much. Seems like its a rare case but would like to know more about it. Also how safe is the surgery as well the cost for it. Thanks in advance!

There are two basic options to correct shape of your forehead. One, more extensive, will include cutting and shaping your forehead and temple bones to create normal forehead width. The other option will involve custom made implants which can be placed on top of the bone and muscle to create wider forehead and camouflage groves between forehead and temple muscle.This deformity may be partially camouflaged using fat grafting or soft tissue fillers like HA granules. It would be best to discuss your options with a craniofacial plastic surgeon in your area (usually associated with large university centers). Good luck.

Your issue needs further evaluation.A head/skull/brain CT to make sure there are no other abnormalities, and an investigation of any symptoms you may be experiencing.Once determined to be purely cosmetic, you appear to have atrophy/hypoplasia of the frontal bone plates and/or the lateral forehead fat pads.These cases are easily treated with fat grafting which will smooth the contour and increase blood supply to limit age related progression of the shape deformityhope this helps

It doesn't appear to me that this is a condition of any sort, but simply the natural shape of your forehead and skull as they interact with the temporals muscles on the side of the skull.  There is no need at all for any medical treatment simply due to the shape.

From your photos, I believe you may have a mild variant of a condition know as trigonocephaly.  This shape of skull can occur when the metopic suture in the skull fuses prematurely.  If this is the case, I would suggest that you see a plastic surgeon, in a major university medical center, who specializes in craniofacial surgery.  They may suggest that nothing be done, but they would be the best expert to discuss your options with you.  Best wishes, Dr. Lepore.
