Hi. Antibiotics would not have an expected effect on postoperative bleeding nor should they really affect the healing process unless you were to develop an infection. Typically, it is not recommended to put somebody on antibiotics as a routine following a surgery such as gynecomastia correction, although different surgeons have different protocols. If you were to develop an infection then you would typically need an antibiotic. I hope this helps. Good luck and take care,Dr. Howell
Thank you for sharing your question. Antibiotics will not reduce the chance of bleeding before or after surgery and are administered in order to reduce the chance of infection. There are options at improving any bruising or swelling after surgery and this involves use of a compression garment, arnica/bromelain supplementation, eating dark leafy green vegetables, and sleeping with an extra pillow or two behind your back at night. Hope this helps.
No. Things that make you bleed are blood thinners and aspirin. Big doses of homeopathic remedies also can cause bleeding. Antibiotics don't generally influence bleeding.
Antibiotics are for an infection. They don't affect bleeding. If you are wanting to speed up your healing process and reduce bruising, I recommend arnica and wearing your compression garment religiously. Hope this helps.
Thank you for the question. No, the use of antibiotics would not be helpful for the purposes you note. My best advice: careful selection of plastic surgeon and careful communication of goals. Best wishes.
Hello. Antibiotics help to reduce the risk of or prevent infection. They do not have influence on bleeding. Your doctor may give you a dose of an antibiotic before the surgery. If you have any concerns about bleeding, discuss this with your surgeon.
Antibiotics only help minimize the risk of infection, it has no impact on bleeding. Most will give one dose of antibiotics prior to the actual surgical procedure.
there is no role for antibiotics beyond getting a single IV dose before surgery. any more use of antibiotics has no benefit and only increases your chance of having resident germs. They also will play no role in preventing bleeding. It is rare for gynecomastia surgery not to heal well but it takes many months to get your final result and get all of the swelling resolved. it takes patience but you can still exercise after 10-14 days after your surgery. anything claiming to speed things up is most likely gimmicky. (I do think taking a vitamins, exercise and a healthy diet and definitely no smoking do help speed up healing).david berman md
At 6 months post op, you are healed and can go in the sun. Just wear a good sunblock to protect your skin. You'll be thankful later as sun exposure is one of the number one causes of facial aging.
I let my patients resume showers and routine activity after 48 hrs. Certainly lifting her is out of the question, but sitting standing positions should not cause harm.
This is a question that I answer every day from dozens of folks from all over the world. The " appearance of a female like breast in a male" is the definition that I use. You appear to have rounded, small breasts. Your weight is fine. It's all about appearance. You don't have to feel rubbery...
Always follow the post op instructions of your surgeon who knows your health history and specific case. For my patients, since this is an outpatient procedure, the patient will return home the day of surgery. In the rare cases where a significant amount of tissue was removed, the patient will...
I would advise you to follow your surgeon's advice and wait on the steroid injections. 7 weeks is still early in your healing process and yes, it can take up to a year for the scar to fully resolve. Best of luck.
Dear Igotemout, It is very early to judge your results one day after surgery as there could be a small fluid collection there or it could be swelling there that can oftentimes be misleading. You really should give yourself at least two months of healing time before you can make a judgment. I...
