Thank you for your question. I typically recommend patients to wait minimally 8 months. We need to make sure you are completely healed from your c section. I would recommend seeing a Board Certified Plastic Surgeon in person to evaluate you and discuss your options and time line. Best of luck to you.
From a biology standpoint you could have the surgery but there may be some benefits from waiting. First of all you want to be back to a stable weight and if you gained weight during your pregnancy and are planning on loosing it you should do that first. Second you need to consider the baby. Are you breast feeding because if so you will be given medications during the recovery from the tummy tuck that you don't want to transfer in the breast milk to the baby. Also, after a tummy tuck you need to be able to focus on your own recovery and if you are the primary caregiver for the baby you will need to make other arrangements. All in all there are significant changes in the body that take place after you have a baby and you want to make sure things have stabilized before considering a tummy tuck
Thank you for your question. Liposuction and or tummy tuck would be best performed when you are well healed following the birth of your child. This is generally 9 months to a year. This will allow the skin to contract and good healing of your c section scar. I would consult with your plastic surgeon for a more exact answer.
It's best if you wait a minimum of six months after childbirth and breastfeeding to allow your body time to heal and your skin to retract. This will give your surgeon the opportunity to maximize your results from the procedure.
Great question! I appreciate the time you are spending researching this procedure. Typically, I would suggest waiting at least 6 weeks before having another surgery. Hope this helps, best of luck!
Excellent question. I always recommend at least 6 months after child birth or a c-section and/or 4-6 months after breast feeding. The general rule is that the more the better. This way we make sure your hormones are back to normal and we give your body time to return as close as possible to your pre baby body before surgery. This will translate to better and longer lasting results.Best of luck and enjoy your baby!Dr. Miguel Mota
Dear lovely cime, you should be fully healed after C-section. Most plastic surgeons will be ready to do a surgery 5 and half months later. If you are considering a surgery, I would suggest you to consult a board-certified plastic surgeon. Only after a thorough examination you will get more information and recommendations.Daniel Barrett, MDCertified, American Board of Plastic SurgeryMember, American Society of Plastic SurgeryMember, American Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery
Many plastic surgeons will tell you to wait for a TT until after having had all of the children you intend to have. However, if your current anatomy is very bothersome to you, a TT can certainly be performed and will not affect your ability to have children in the future. Would wait another half month to have a six month healing period between the C-section and the TT/lipo surgery If you have excess fat on your sides or back and want the waist as small as possible, liposuction can be added to the TT. Weight gain, presence of stretch marks, separation of the muscles, and other factors may determine if revision surgery or another TT is needed after another pregnancy.
Hello, thank you for your question. I personally recommend for patients to wait a minimum 9 months after giving birth/having a c-section before having a tummy tuck with liposuction for the hormones to adjust to normal. If you are planning on having more children, it is important to note that additional pregnancies will alter the results and it is ideal to finish having children before moving forward with a tummy tuck procedure.Kamran Azad MD, Board Certified Plastic Surgeon
