I'm 16 years old and tend to mostly sweat underarms and my back no matter what weather it is...and this gets embarrassing
Answer: MiraDry at 16 Hi there! As long as parental consent is obtained, miraDry can be performed on adolescents suffering from hyperhidrosis. Itis considered a cosmetic procedure and is not covered by insurance. MiraDry is the only FDA approved, non-invasive treatment that yields significant and permanent reduction of underarm sweat and odor. At Capizzi, M.D. Cosmetic Surgery and Skincare, we only offer services that work, and we are huge advocates for the miraDry technology! Best of luck!

Answer: MiraDry before the age of 18 Thank you for your question. miraDry is not a covered procedure by insurance. I have treated patients with severe axillary hyperhidrosis in the teenage years with parental consent and it has helped those patients. Newer techniques also allow for a safer and more effective delivery of the procedure.

Answer: Not Recommended, But Possible I don’t recommend patients under 18 undergo the MiraDry treatment, as there is far less information on the aftereffects in these age groups. However, this doesn’t mean it is impossible, and—depending on your doctor—you may still be able to go through with the procedure. With that said, I’d try other treatments first, such as clinical strength antiperspirants. If this doesn’t work, talk to your doctor and see what other options you may have.
