Hi there! As long as parental consent is obtained, miraDry can be performed on adolescents suffering from hyperhidrosis. Itis considered a cosmetic procedure and is not covered by insurance. MiraDry is the only FDA approved, non-invasive treatment that yields significant and permanent reduction of underarm sweat and odor. At Capizzi, M.D. Cosmetic Surgery and Skincare, we only offer services that work, and we are huge advocates for the miraDry technology! Best of luck!
Thanks for your question. With your parent's consent MiraDry can be performed on younger hyperhidrosis sufferers. We have not had any insurance cover this, but health savings accounts have not been a problem.Best wishes. Dr. ALDO
Thank you for your question. miraDry is not a covered procedure by insurance. I have treated patients with severe axillary hyperhidrosis in the teenage years with parental consent and it has helped those patients. Newer techniques also allow for a safer and more effective delivery of the procedure.
Insurance may cover hyperhidrosis treatments but this all depends on the coverage from your insurance. I have had excellent results with Miradry over the last few years. Best, DR. Karamanoukian Los Angeles
I don’t recommend patients under 18 undergo the MiraDrytreatment, as there is far less information on the aftereffects in these agegroups. However, this doesn’t mean it is impossible, and—depending on yourdoctor—you may still be able to go through with the procedure. With that said, I’d try other treatments first, such asclinical strength antiperspirants. If this doesn’t work, talk to your doctorand see what other options you may have.
My company representative said you can treat as young as 14 years old. Insurance does not cover it... there isn't even a code to bill insurance for it.
Hi and thank you for your question! We have performed miraDry in patients as young as 15 years old, with parental consent. We have found with most insurances do not cover this procedure. However, we can have our biller confirm this, as well as providing an itemized receipt for the patient to submit. MiraDry is a wonderful procedure for resolving the excessive sweating in the underarms. I have had the treatment done and am so happy with the results! I love not having to wear deodorant and ruining all my clothes! Best, Dr. Grant Stevens
Under 18 is considered off-label. This mean that the procedure has not been studied well in your age group. However based on personal experience, it is considered to be safe. I would first make sure you have exhausted your other options like topical antiperspirants.
Patients as young as 14 can have the MiraDrytreatment done. This treatment is not covered through health insurance.
Thank you for your question.Insurance does not cover miraDry.There are no procedural codes (CPT codes) that are acceptable to insurance companies. The youngest patient we have done miraDry on was 15 years old. Read the miraDry book on the link below.BestDr Karamanoukian
