I had the procedure done May 30th, 2023 so I am 11 months post op. I am 5’2 and 120 pounds and I got silicone 345cc (right) and 330cc (left) implants. My surgeon told me I would be a mid c cup size. They have been close together since I got them done but I feel like the only way they look ok is with no bra.. when I have any kind of bra or compression tank on they look odd to me like it’s symmastia but I’m not sure if that’s what it is or not because I don’t look like that braless

Answer: Could I potentially have Symmastia? Thank you for your question and pictures. I do not see classic symmastia where the implants are connected in the middle. Things are close, but not connected. I think that it is more likely that your baseline natural anatomy had a very straight and close cleavage line prior to surgery, and that has continued after surgery, but has been amplified due to the implant volume. This could likely be lessened with a decrease in implant size or transition to a less wide (translation higher profile) device. Hope this helps! Dallas Buchanan, MD VIVIFY plastic surgery Tampa, FL

Answer: Symmastia I probably have more questions than answers for you, but here's some information. An exam is needed to determine if you have symmastia, but if you feel the skin raise up between your breasts when you push the implants together, this suggests symmastia. Symmastia usually occurs in women who have had prior surgeries, and those with larger implants. So knowing that is helpful. Correction can be done using one of several techniques depending in the severity.

Answer: Symmastia post breast augmentation? Hello! Thank you for your question. You do not have Symmastia. As you note, braless photo indicates nice space between breasts. A bra that pushes your breasts together does enhance how close the breasts become. Better to wear a bralette or bra support that does not exacerbate the short distance between the breasts. Best of luck to you!
