Breast augmentation without general anesthetic?

Saline breast augmentation should be available with most/all plastic surgeons, as well as gel implants, for small breasts. Sizing would be during consultation.

However, I would NOT recommend local anesthesia only for breast augmentation. In my experience, creating a space for the implants, especially if under the muscle, and the overall discomfort, would compromise results and safety.

An exam and consultation with a plastic surgeon is recommended to further discuss your options and expectations.

With effective local anesthesia breast augmentation can routinely be performed without general anesthesia under IV sedation using the same medications routinely used for colonoscopy and I have done thousands with this technique. Saline implants need to be placed under the muscle which is my routine and most patients in my practice choose saline implants because there is less tissue reaction and the incidence of capsular contracture is extremely low.
