The cost of cosmetic surgery is based on the number of variables. Ultimately, each surgeon determines their own price for their services. Facility pricing can vary substantially, depending on if a provider owns their own surgery center or has to pay an additional fee to using a surgery facility. Likewise anesthesia costs can also add to the bill. I personally perform all liposuction and fat, transfer procedures, using local anesthesia with mild sedation, using an accredited facility for local anesthesia operations. Prices tend to be higher in parts of the country, where a cost-of-living is higher. Expect to pay very high prices in Beverly Hills, San Francisco, and New York City for example. There is not very much correlation between price paid and quality outcome when it comes to cosmetic surgery. The one exception is that the best surgeons rarely charge discounted prices. I’ve seen plastic surgeons were not very talented Charge top prices and I’ve seen some of the most talented surgeons I know charge average or fair or reasonable prices. Those who have the lowest prices in the community are typically not surgeons you want to go to. Otherwise I wouldn’t place too much emphasis on the price itself, but rather that plastic surgeons based on skill and experience. To find the right provider, I suggest patients have multiple in person consultations, preferably with local plastic surgeons in their community who done a lot of liposuction and fat transfer procedures. Delivering consistent quality, Liposuction, and fat transfer a result is more difficult than most people realize. The number of plastic surgeon soup truly mastered. These procedures are in a small minority. There is a substantial number of plastic surgeons for simply not good at Liposuction or fat transfer. To find the best provider, I suggest scheduling as many consultations as possible. Considering how much variation there is, I recommend starting the process by having at least five in person consultations. During each consultation, ask each provider to open up their portfolio and show you their entire collection of before and after pictures of previous patient who had similar body characteristics to your own.. An experienced plastic surgeon should have no difficulty showing you the before and after pictures of at least 50 previous patients. Being shown a handful of pre-selected images, representing the best results of a providers career is insufficient to get a clear understanding of what average results look like in the hands of each provider, how many of these procedures they’ve actually done or what results with some minor of your candidacy is likely to experience. I do not recommend having virtual consultations because the ability to vet plastic surgeons is difficult without meeting them in person. I also do not recommend people travel long distances for elective surgical procedures. When in doubt, slow down and schedule more consultations. The time to be critical of plastic surgeons is during the vetting process while interviewing plastic surgeons. Best, Mats Hagstrom, MD
