Can you lipo jowls? (Photo)

Question

After waiting through covid, I finally got my facelift. Unfortunately after all the swelling went down, my jowls came back! When asked why lipo was not done, I was told that they do not take volume from the face. Now it is two years later and I really would like to get something done. Went to another doctor, again for lipo and he said there is a nerve that could be affected so they don’t do lipo by the jowls. Is there anything else I can do, I’d appreciate any suggestions.

Lipo under local with the micro canulas would do well for the nasolabial folds and the jowls and is easy to undergo.  They should have done the lipo with the facelift.

From your photograph, it appears you need another facelift.  You have excess hanging skin as well as fat.

Liposuction to the jowel area is something that can be performed. We always take into consideration a patient's age and the elasticity to their skin in order to determine if there is a risk for loose skin after the procedure.  Face lift and liposuction would be considered two different procedures.  Although may be performed at the same time.

We do liposuction as a part of every face/neck lift as well as just for isolated jowls treatment. There is no doubt that liposuction of jowls can cause temporary weakness of  marginal facial nerve branch. It is always temporary when it happens and it will improve within three weeks to 3 months. We do liposuction with very small cannula what further diminishes a  chance for temporary nerve injury. You should continue searching for a surgeon who has more experience with this technique than those you visited.

Liposuction in that area is risky because of important nerves that move your face. However, many of the minimally invasive skin tightening treatments like FaceTite or noninvasive micro-needling with radiofrequency treatments like Agnes or Secret can be very helpful to tighten tissue in that area.
