Which procedure would help me achieve more upper teeth show? (photo)

It is impossible to tell if you are a good candidate for a lip lift based solely on this photo where you are smiling, which lifts the upper lip.

To achieve more upper teeth show, the following procedures might be considered:
1. Lip Lowering/Reverse Vestibuloplasty: This procedure involves lowering the upper lip to cover less of the teeth. It is typically performed on patients with a high lip line or 'gummy smile'.
2. Orthognathic Surgery: In some cases, a surgical procedure may be needed to reposition the jaw or teeth, which can increase the visibility of the upper teeth.
3. Botox: Botox injections can be used to relax the muscles controlling the upper lip, allowing it to cover less of the teeth when smiling.
4. Gum Contouring/Gingivectomy: This procedure involves removing or reshaping the gum tissue to expose more of the teeth.

A lip lift does 4 things: shortens the distance between your nose and upper lip, increases the mucosa of the upper lip, increases the incisor show and pulls up the corners. Unfortunately, your photograph is inadequate. We need a photograph in repose to see if you are a candidate for a lip lift.

A full set of standardized photos would be best to help answer this question. From the photo given, it appears that the upper lip is already short, however it may be related to the angle that it was taken at. If the upper lip is truly short, then a lip lift will shorten it even more. When the upper lip is the appropriate length, then lack of tooth show may be due to the bony structure (the maxilla). If the maxilla is setback (also known as hypoplastic), then I recommend seeing either an Oral Maxillofacial surgeon (OMFS) or a Craniofacial surgeon in combination with an orthodontist.
