I lost 110lbs and travelled to another country because the surgeon said he had the most experience with skin removal and my outcome is tragic. I need to know what happened and if it can even be fixed. I had arm lift, breast lift and lower body lift in 5.5 hrs. My breasts are dropped and pinned down in my upper abdominal skin and nipples caved in. He said I didn't need MR and now my stomach distends when standing. Surgeon says my results are "great". He sees no issues. I am crushed

Answer: Traveling for surgery I do not recommend anybody travel for elective surgical procedures especially not major surgery like what you had done. In the end your surgeon is responsible for the outcome of your surgery and you intern are responsible for choosing that surgeon. It seems like every procedure you had done was none poorly and needs to be revised. Of the three main procedures restoring your breast to natural shape and contour is going to be the most difficult. It appears your surgeon completely violated and eliminated your inframammary fold. It may not be possible to restore this if too much skin was removed. The importance of choosing the most experienced and talented plastic surgeon for cosmetic surgical procedures goes without saying. To do that I suggest having multiple in person consultations with local board-certified plastic surgeons in your community. Ask them to show their entire collection of before and after pictures of the procedures you’re interested in and if possible for revision work they may have done as well. I also suggest reading all reviews on all major physician review websites and avoiding providers for the significant number of justified negative reviews. The absence of justified negative reviews is my important and more telling the abundance of positive reviews. Most people travel to other countries for cosmetic surgery to save money. Getting all of these procedures corrected is going to in the end probably not be cheap. When seeking second opinion consultations patients should bring proper before and after pictures and the copy of the operative report. They should all be available to you from the surgeon who did your procedure. You may want to leave some reviews about what your experience was with this provider so that others can steer clear of their path and not and up in the same situation. A question if this person had any proper plastic surgery training. It would not seem so by American medical standards. Best, Mats Hagstrom MD

Answer: Dissatisfaction with results of breast lift and abdominoplasty Hi and welcome to our forum! From your preoperative photos, I note very significant breast sag with the nipples a considerable distance below the fold at the bottom of the breast. The abdominal skin was lax. From your postoperative photos, I note previous surgical scarring, lack of breast volume, and a full abdomen when standing but flat when laying on your back. An abdominal view apparently taken from below upward shows residual lax skin in a vertical direction resulting in the development of skin folds. You note that your anterior rectus muscles were not repaired. It appears that you lack breast volume, which would respond well to a breast augmentation with a high profile implant. It also appears that your anterior abdominal musculature has separated, resulting in the abdominal bulge. This would require a secondary abdominoplasty revision. The vertical bands of the abdomen when bending forward appear to represent vertically oriented skin laxity. Modification of the abdominoplasty to a fleur-de-lis pattern will eliminate the bands, but will add a vertical anterior midline abdominal scar (possibly indicated if the bands are visible in other positions). 15% of cosmetic surgeries benefit greatly from a secondary touch up procedure. Visit a board certified plastic surgeon for evaluation and discussion.Best wishes...
