Age 35. I have had a tummy tuck. I am at the 2.5 weeks of recovery stage. I noticed the difference in both side's curves. The left side is still numb and stiff where less curve. The right side looks more hollow. I am not sure if is there any solution to fix this uneven curves.
Answer: Curves You need to post your before photos, because your uneven curves may have always been present due to your back. Most people are not completely even, but notice more unevenness when excess fat and skin are removed. Correcting an uneven back is bigtime surgery that most do not want. if you have some residual fat, it can be treated with liposuction. Go back to your surgeon and discuss your concerns. This unevenness may just be you and unable to be addressed.

Answer: Recovery Progress After Tummy Tuck: Patience is Key Hello and thank you for your question regarding an asymmetrical waistline after tummy tuck surgery. You are only 2 1/2 weeks into your tummy tuck. You are still healing, and there is no way to determine the final results from these pictures at this stage. Swelling changes on an hourly basis after a tummy tuck, and your final results should become apparent at approximately 10 to 12 weeks post-surgery. If you had liposuction as part of your procedure, it may take even longer for the swelling to fully resolve. Therefore, it is way too early to determine anything definitively based on your current progress. Ways to accelerate healing include abdominal compression garments and lymphatic massage. I hope I’ve answered your question regarding the early stages of tummy tuck recovery. If you have any further concerns or questions as you continue to heal, please don't hesitate to reach out. Sincerely, J. Timothy Katzen, MD, FASMBS, FICS Plastic and Aesthetic Surgeon

Answer: Revision after tummy tuck. it looks like you are on your way to an excellent result. you aree expected to have much swelling at this stage of healing. Usually asymmetries are assessed closer to six months. Many people have asymmetries prior to surgery, but don't recognize them. Anyway, you should let your plastic surgeon know about your concerns. Sometimes they disappear or asymmetries can often be improved with liposuction.

Answer: Asymmetry Congratulations on your surgery! At two and a half weeks post op you are very early in your recovery. Swelling is present and expected for the next several weeks. It will be a few months yet before you can evaluate your results. I know it's hard to be patient but more time is needed. Continue to follow your surgeon's advice and be sure to discuss any concerns.

Answer: Body symmetry All people have significant body asymmetry. Most people have one side that’s different than the other. To make an accurate assessment regarding the outcome of a plastic surgery procedure we generally need to see proper before and after pictures. You will most likely see a symmetry on your before pictures as well.It looks like you had some liposuction in conjunction with the procedure that wasn’t necessarily blended so well. Your back looks like it’s untreated while your waist had liposuction. I think the asymmetry you’re seeing in the pictures is more related to your musculoskeletal structure than irregularity in surgical technique. A tummy tuck is not going to address body asymmetry. If you don’t have proper before, and after pictures and ask your surgeon to forward, the pictures they took. Best, Mats Hagstrom, MD
