Guard #1 after FUE transplant? I like shaving my head to 3mm.

Question

Hello, I was told by doctors I need about 3000 grafts for FUE. My hair is thin on the front but the balding is general so I need the new grafts to be blended with my existing hair. I like shaving my head to 3mm which I think is equivalent to #1 guard. Will scars in the back of my head will be visible if shaved to 3mm? And more importantly, will the frontal area look natural? Will the new grafts blend well with my existing grafts when I shave to 3 mm ? Is it too risky? Thanks in advance,

FUE leaves round scars.  It may or may not be visible depending on how short you keep your hair.  Some people scar worse than others so 1mm guard may or may not show.

Hair transplantation result would be natural and ıf your doc planned a increasing density operation. İt would not create any damage to vellus hair already present on the scalp.  Density of hair transplanted area would be % 50 of native hairs at the end of 1 year.There will be almost no scar or obvious marks nor at the donor area neither at transplantation site with FUE  tech. But ıf you shave your hair with razor, you or others may only realize a tiny white dots on your skin when looked very closely..they are very tiny and invisible scars of punch insertions . Actually I have no complaint about those scars before… But you would have a long, 2-4 mm widht pretty visible scar on back of your head in FUT technique.

You will most likely see punctate (round) scars post FUE with hair shave to 3 mm. Remember, there is no such thing as a scar free hair transplant. If you want to shave your head or wear your hair very short, don't have  a hair transplant.

The density of your new hair will not be the same as the density of the normal surrounding hair so the closer you shave it, the less blending you will have, Longer is better
