Lipo on chin and arms quite soon after childbirth? Baby is two weeks old.

Question

I have a very important event in 6 weeks. I am really unhappy with my chin and arms (even before pregnancy) and really want to do something about them for this event. would it be unsafe to book in Lipo for these two areas ASAP, given that I am only two weeks postpartum?

Most surgeons advise postponing liposuction for 3 - 9 months. Generally, this is sufficient time for a new mother to heal both physically and mentally, Also, postponing your procedure will yield better results and afford you time to obtain assistance with the care of your newborn while you are recovering from Lipo.I would recommend that you eat well, sleep well, exercise, and enjoy every second with your beautiful new baby.

After having a pregnancy, it gets involution and the fluid retention and weights reduce. This period is generally seems more in 3 months. Becouse of this, after pregnancy, it’s better not to do anything. It will not effect the health if nothing is done.

I would not rush to get smart lipo post partum as you will want to be closer to what your body is considers its baseline.  Also healing from smart lipo needs about 6-12 weeks and you won't be at your best yet when your even occurs.

Congratulations on your new baby! Having a procedure in the next two weeks is a bad idea for two reasons. One, your figure is likely going to change in significant ways with your recent childbirth. Secondly, you will not see any major results from liposuction for at least 3-6 months. I would wait for sure! Best wishes

your body is undergoing lots of changes since just having had a baby. It will also improve a lot as it recovers from pregnancy and delivery. i would wait at least 3 months before doing Smartlipo. Also, if your event is in just 6 weeks, that is barely giving the Smartlipo time to work. I stress to my patients that you will continue to improve for 6 months after Smartlipo. my advice is get back to healthy eating and exercise and wait 3 months at least, before considering doing Smartlipo.david berman md

Hi.  My recommendation would be to hold off on liposuction so soon after childbirth.  You are still in the recovery phase from your childbirth and it could make the recovery from your liposuction procedure more difficult and also more prolonged.  Also, you will not be seeing the final results from liposuction in six weeks and may have residual swelling and bruising from the procedure itself at the time of your event.  Best of Luck!
