Major wrinkled skin 1 month post op with Smart Lipo to the abdomen (Photo)

Question

I had Smart Lipo and belly button revision (sewed up belly button piercing) done 1 month ago by a reputable Dr. I am slim, 5’1 and 106 pounds. My skin has wrinkled terribly 2 weeks after the procedure and keeps getting worse. I did not have any initial bruising but just got 2 large bruises yesterday (1 month post op). Why did I bruise 1 month later? And with the degree of deep wrinkles will they truly ago away? Images shown are before and after procedure.

A well performed Liposuction improves the shape and contour of the body and adding the laser can help with some skin tightening. In your case I really think there is now way this will look any better unless a tummy tuck is also performed. Sorry.

You will need to wait 4-6 months for your final results.  A tummy tuck should have been offered to you as a treatment option and the possibility of loose contracted skin also should have been reviewed with you preoperatively.  If you did not want a tummy tuck, there are certain skin tightening modalities that can be used with smart lipo to improve contraction of the skin such as Renuvion J plasma or Inmode Body time.  Again, this should have been explained to you at your pre op visit.  Always see a lipo expert this will save you these issues

The tummy tuck surgery would be better for you according to your body before the surgery.  There is so many stretch marks and so saggy skin on upper abdomen and around the stomack. However the Laser lipolysis lifting and firming the skin, it can not solve this problems. After 3-4 months of Laser Lipolysis and when the fibrosis decreases, the tummy tuck surgery will be the best choise for you.

You are still very early in the healing process. You need to wait at least 3-6 months for your final result. That being said, it appears that you have less than ideal skin with poor elasticity and stretch marks. If you desire a firm tight abdomen , a tummy tuck may be necessary in the future. Dr Crabtree

Sorry for the poor results but as I stated to your 1st inquiry you might need more than just liposuction. You tried to avoid a larger surgery with very unacceptable results. Now you need healing the of 4 months than revision TT surgery.

you will continue to improve for 6 months. However, you appear to have a moderate amount of loose skin. You will get some tightening from Smartlipo which will continue for 6 months. However, a Tummy tuck will give a lot more skin tightening since so much skin is excised. no one will know why you bruised a month later but would be unusual to be related to the Smartlipo. not very important since a bruise will just go away in 2-3 weeks and does not affect your ability to exercise etc.david berman md
