I m 21 years old girl .and i have taken my first prp on 28feb,2018 and i have taken 5 sessions of prp and going to take the last one means my sixth one on 19 july.but i haven't seen any single hair root in my scalp .people says that after months results are visible but doctor believe me i havent seen any new hair. Can u plz tell me that how long will prp take to regrow my hair back bcz prp is my last hope for my hair problems.

Great question! PRP is great for thinning hair. PRP uses growth factors in your own blood to stimulate the scalp to restore hair growth, increase thickness of hair, and improve the strength of hair. Treatment works best in areas of hair that are thinning, compared to areas of complete hair loss. I recommend having three treatments to start, that are 4-6 weeks apart. Then maintenance therapy can be done 1-2x per year. It is usually by the 3rd scalp treatment that we start to see "baby hairs" and a decrease in shedding. It is important to remember that this treatment requires patience, but the results will be worth it! It would be in your best interest to go to an expert injector in your area, so they can get a full history and help you get on the right path to hair loss recovery. hair may not regrow from PRP. it works sometimes but not always. you should be evaluated . for the cause of the hairloss and treat the underlying cause.  see an expert and add stemcells / ACELL to t the PRP.  Best, Dr. Emer.

PRP does not trigger new hair follicles to form but may induce already existing weak follicles to gain strength and grow, particularly in males.PRP may increase the mean thickness of growing hair follicles.PRP may decrease the percentage of hair follicles on the way to be lost  (telogen phase of hair follicles in males) PRP is effective particularly in androgenic type of hair loss, it may have some secondary indirect quality increase effects in women but is not effective for female type hair loss. (according to recent publication from Texas University)

It is hard to tell from the photos and diagnose the type of hair loss you have. PRP injections are done once a month for 3 months, then once every 3 months, then once every 6 months. PRP treatments improve hair health, reduce shedding, but will not regrow hair in conditions such as scarring alopecia, or at least no study has showed such a thing. Moreover, the type of PRP you use, the amount, the injection technique are all important in the clinical results. Make sure you have a board certified dermatologist with experience in this area before you further continue on this journey.
