Dr. Surmeli is genuinely remarkable! My results left me speechless both my breast augmentation along with my tummy tuck exceeded my expectations. In terms of facilities, the hospital itself is state of the art- a futuristic science innovation center! These procedures are not done in some clinic without the proper resources to attend to a patient’s full needs. That gave me a lot of comfort.

Dr Mehmet Sürmeli and his team are truly wonderful! I did a solo travel to Turkey (I’m Canadian), and decided to look into 360 lipo and chin lipo. Today is Tuesday I just arrived home Sunday from the procedure. I traveled by myself from California to have an arm lift. As someone who is scared of everything (like carnival rides), I have wanted to do this for myself for a long time. I am so happy with the results. The doctor and nurse were both wonderful to work with. The nurse even followed up to make sure I arrived home safely. It was a great experience all around (including the hospital and staff). If this is something you want to do for yourself do it.

As a fulltime nomad, I could have traveled anywhere in the world to have plastic surgery. I spent a lot of time researching various locations and surgeons. In the end I chose Dr. Mehmet Surmeli in Istanbul for a tummy tuck and breast reduction. 

     Firstly, I wanted to work directly with the doctor and his staff rather than go through a medical company that has a financial interest in booking surgeries. When I contacted Dr. Surmeli's office, I spoke with the patient coordinator who worked for the doctor, not a third party medical tourism agency. Secondly, I wanted a doctor who was board certified. It can be difficult to know and trust governing bodies in foreign countries, however, Dr. Surmeli is also board certified in both the United States (American Society of Plastic Surgeons) and Europe (The European Board of Plastic Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery).

After sending information and photos, Dr. Surmeli advised that I should have the two procedures separately, six months apart. This meant traveling to Istanbul twice, but I appreciated his conservative approach due to my age (66), the length of surgeries and the healing process.

Both of my surgeries were scheduled in a timely manner that worked for my schedule. Dr. Surmeli conducts his surgeries at the highly rated, private Memorial Hospital in the Bahçelievler neighborhood of Istanbul. The hospital is clean, bright and modern, with strict standards. With my coordinator translating and guiding me through the entire process, I felt right at home. (The Starbucks in the lobby was a nice touch, too.)

     My surgeries went well and recovery for both have been smooth and uncomplicated. When I have a question or concern, I contact my coordinator and receive a reply with Dr. Surmeli's comments and recommendations. I have felt supported by the team throughout the process, even after leaving Istanbul.

Plastic surgery is a big decision and traveling to a foreign country for the surgery can seem daunting. Dr. Surmeli and his team cater to foreign patients and they understand their concerns and are there to help patients through the entire process.        

If you are considering plastic surgery, my advice is to forget those third party scheduling companies and cheap "chop shops" and instead choose a highly skilled surgeon who has your best interests at heart. For these reasons and more, I highly recommend Dr. Surmeli and his team. Plus, you get to visit Istanbul, one of the greatest cities in the world!

I can’t recommend Dr Surmeli and his team enough! It can be quite difficult to decide on a plastic surgeon in Turkey as there are a huge number of doctors to choose from and many who offer very low cost procedures however, I really wanted to choose someone who I was confident was provide the highest quality service and that’s exactly what I got. As a female travelling alone, I was a little nervous when I first arrived at the airport but when I got to the hospital, that changed completely. Dr Surmeli only partners with hospitals who can provide the best patient care. My hospital felt more like a hotel and I knew immediately that my experience was going to be fantastic!

Dr Surmeli is an extremely warm, knowledgeable and calm doctor and he took his time to explain all eventualities to me before my surgery. I felt so reassured by him and his team that I had absolutely no concerns or nerves on the morning of my surgery and I actually felt excited for it because I knew Dr Surmeli was going to give me a perfect outcome.

I absolutely love the results of my surgery! Dr Surmeli was able to achieve the exact size that I wanted and my scarring is much less that I could have imagined, the scars are extremely thin and are nothing compared to what I thought I would have- this I know is due to Dr Surmeli’s expertise.

Not only do I love my aesthetic results, the doctor actually found an abnormal lump, which he removed and sent to pathology- I truly don’t believe that many other doctors in Turkey would have taken the time or care to do this. Thankfully it turned out to be benign but I am so grateful that this wasn’t overlooked as I have an extensive family history.

Overall, my whole experience with Dr Surmeli and his team was phenomenal, he regularly checks in to check on my healing and my recovery has been super easy because of his skills as a surgeon. I would really encourage other patients not to sacrifice their health but choosing surgeons based on their price rather than their level of expertise- Dr Surmeli is the best there is!
