What is the difference between Chin Implant and Chin Liposuction, and which would be right for me? (Photo)

Liposuction is used to remove fat from under the chin. A chin implant is used to project the chin further forward. Both procedures can actually improve the neck line in diferent ways. Talk to your surgeon well in advance if you are thinking of combining either with your upcoming Rhinoplasty

 A chin implant is inserted through sub mental incision when patients have a recessive or weak chin profile. Chin implants are composed of Silastic, and can be placed under local anesthesia. Liposuction in the neck  removes fatty deposits in the neck which accentuates the jawline. Both procedures are complementary  to each other. Cosmetic surgery can not give you some one else's face or features. Cosmetic surgery enhances your own features only.If you are looking to look like a model or actor you will most probably be disappointed with the results.

Your profile picture is not clear however it shows that you are possibly a candidate for chin augmentation. You may be a candidate for some sub-mental liposuction under the chin to further accentuate your jawline however it is difficult to tell in these photos. Speak with your surgeon prior to surgery and discuss both of these procedures that you are considering and he/she will let you know if you are a candidate. Discuss this with your Plastic Surgeon.  A better profile picture would be helpful, but it looks that a chin implant will improve your profile.  The Rhinoplasty and Chin implant can be done at the same setting.  Best wishes!

The difference is one procedure subtracts volume in one place and the other procedure adds volume in another place. Without facial photos no spedcific answer can be given.

It is impossible to tell what would be the best for you with the photos submitted.  However, it looks like you would benefit from some lipo and a chin implant.  Ask for computerized imaging to ascertain the best option for you and if you would be happy with the result.  Seek out an opinion from a board-certified Facial Plastic surgeon.  Best wishes
