Is it safe to take arnica before cosmetic surgery?

It is safe to take arnica before and after surgery. It will help decrease post-op bruising. Bromelain will help with post-op swelling.  You will want avoid anything that may be considered a mild blood thinner such as aspirin or any other non steroidal. Ask your surgeon for a list of specific supplements to avoid. Good luck!

every plastic surgeon has his own preoperative protocol, which he recommends to his patients. Arnica is frequently used to reduce bruising after surgery. I would suggest you to discuss this with your plastic surgeon.

Hello and thank you for your question. Arnica is proposed to help with faster resolution of post op bruising. While its efficacy has not been scientifically proven, we don't know of any side effects associated with it and it is being used by many patients. You should  follow your surgeon's protocol. Best

Arnica and Bromelain have been suggested to reduce postoperativebruising.  Arnica pills are fine, but I am not sure how helpful they are. The bruising that is present improves and disappears over the first few weeks.  Ask your plastic surgeon if his/her pre and post operative guidelines include Arnica.

Arnica is fabulous and something I routinely recommend for my patients for surgery and non-invasive treatment such as fillers. 

Arnica is RECOMMENDED peri-operatively! Thousands of patients have taken Arnica before and after surgery without any side effects. This homeopathic herbal supplement has been proven to not have any effect so I wouldn’t worry about it. It’s unlikely any plastic surgeon will worry about it. Summer believe that it works others simply sell it to make money even though they fully know it does nothing.
Alternative medicine it’s no longer alternative once it’s proven to work.
