I have had septorhinoplasty 24 days ago . I cannot breathe through my nose at all.Right nostril is completely blocked and i can see the tissue blocking my nasal cavity when i look inside my nostrils.Left nostril is constantly congested despite using saline nasal drops.I’m very irritated, i can’t sleep at all and breathing through mouth has become intolerable for me.I mentioned this to my surgeon and he didn’t take it seriously. Is this normal or should i see anothor doctor?

Answer: Rhinoplasty Dear Courageous1036, Thank you for your question and congratulations on your rhinoplasty operation. The first few weeks post-operatively, it is not uncommon to feel as if you have a stuffy nose or a cold that interrupts your breathing. This should dissipate. Also, since swelling lasts at least 6-12 months and in some cases even longer, this may also impact your breathing. However, if you are still having concerns I suggest following up with your Board Certified Operating Surgeon. Best of luck to you!

Answer: Rhinoplasty Nasal Issues Hello and thank you for your question. I understand your concern, but I advise for your next steps of action to be to have your surgeon assess you and how your nose is healing, and for you to be patient. Nasal obstruction following a septorhinoplasty is not uncommon and usually resolves with time. For any future questions or concerns needing clarification, do not hesitate to reach out to your surgeon! Gary Linkov, MD Rhinoplasty Specialist Manhattan
