In one week i will be 6mpo from my breast reduction, back lipo, and flank lipo surgery. I am very upset with how my back lipo & breast reduction turned out. I will be making a different post about my breast reduction so this one is only about the liposuction. I feel like there isn't a ton of difference in my back, i do see a significant difference in my flanks though and like the outcome of that except i do notice one side is different. I feel like i wasted my 4k by getting both done..

Answer: 6 months post-op. Am I right to be upset with these results? So many issues are presented in this question/s.... Yes there appears to be no liposuction of any amount being done. But you did not post breasts reduction photos? Plus do you really think a fee of $4,000 for breast reduction and liposuction is reasonable? IT IS MUCH TO LOW! Usually fees from $8,000-$15,000+. Did you use a boarded PS? Or you used a clinic? The old axiom, "you get what you pay for." applies. Best to virtual consult with a boarded PS.

Answer: Liposuction results You have significant skin laxity on your back and this is contributing significantly to the contour. Skin laxity is not corrected with Liposuction and it’s important to differentiate between the difference of skin laxity versus excess subcutaneous fat. Delivering consistent quality liposuction results is more difficult than most people believe including plastic surgeons. Patients should vet their plastic surgeons carefully to find the most experienced and talented provider. I recommend patients do this by having multiple in person consultations at which time they should ask providers to open up their portfolio and show their entire collection of before and after pictures or at least as many pictures as providers are willing to. Patient should ask to see as many pictures as possible of patients with similar body characteristics to their own so they have a good understanding of what average results will look like in the hands of each providers especially with your own patient candidacy for the procedure. Patients who are not ideal candidates it should not expect great results. Ideally this should be discussed during the consultation and appropriate pictures should be reviewed to indicate what can or cannot be achieved with each procedure. It’s difficult to tell how much of the lack of results is due to skin laxity. Generally speaking skin laxity is the enemy of Liposuction and the ideal candidate for this procedure tends to be young women with tight skin with a undesirable fat distribution. It’s possible the results could be improved. To get a quality assessment would require an examination. To get an idea of what your subcutaneous fat thickness looks like with your skin under tension you can take one arm at a time and stretch it over your head. Take a picture using the timer on your camera in that position with one arm at a time stretched above your head. Doing so puts the skin on the back under tension and allows a better representation of fat distribution rather than seeing the skin laxity. Best, Mats Hagstrom MD
