Hello, I have an amazing medical health insurance plan through Cigna. I’ve been wanting a breast lift/reduction and BBL for quite some time now. Unfortunately through research I’ve discovered it’s almost impossible to get your insurance company to cover the costs of cosmetic surgery. I have very large breasts that make my back hurt sometimes, I figured I could potentially have that covered but I was wondering if there are ANY loopholes to getting the BBL covered as well?
Answer: Is there any insurance that covers a BBL? None of us can predict what decisions insurance companies will make regarding coverage for BR surgery or what documentation will sway their decision. BRs which are medically necessary (i.e. you suffer back, shoulder, and neck "pain" with DOCUMENTED medical attention over a period of a YEAR) are typically covered by medical insurance. If not, your medical insurance may try to deny you based upon a lot of things such as weight, lack of symptoms, lack of previous medical management, and lack of enough tissue that should be removed. Read your Cigna certificate of coverage. Determine what medical information is required for Cigna to issue a pre-authorization or predetermination of benefits for BR surgery. Then seek consultation with a board certified plastic surgeon who can evaluate your medical condition, discuss the pros and cons of this surgery as it applies to you, determine the amount of tissue to be removed, and help you in completing the paperwork required by your medical insurance company. The BBL on the other hand is considered cosmetic surgery and the surgery will not be covered. Cigna may reimburse you for the pre-op lab, and your medications.

Answer: Is there any insurance that covers a BBL? Thanks for your question. Medical Insurance will not cover cosmetic procedures like brazilian butt lifts. That said, you definitely have to choose your surgeon correctly and make sure that he/she has the training and experience to meet your goals with absolute safety. Best is a Board Certified Plastic Surgeon with specialized expertise in this procedure.

Answer: BBL and insurance Dear Jnesbitt98, BBL is a cosmetic procedure which is not covered by any insurance. The cost of surgery depends on a lot of factors (type of surgery, number of treated areas, anesthesia fee, surgeon, facility fee, city, etc.). In LA area, BBL typically ranges from 8K-12K depending on how much liposuction needs to be done to get enough fat. It would be the best to visit or call plastic surgery offices and ask for a price.
