Question

Hello. I had 3l of liposuction removed 2 months prior by an excellent physician under general anesthesia. I am still swollen feeling with painful lumps around my belly button, hips, and waist. They are hard areas which are uncomfortable most of the time and occasionally wake me up. I see my doctor in 2 weeks but wonder if I should see her sooner. Am I progressing at a normal rate? Should I still feel swollen and painful? I did have closed stitches and no drainage post lipo.

This is a very common question from patients.  You are just 2 months post operative from a failfly extensive liposuction procedure.  It is not uncommon to feel swollen and bloated at 2 months.  At this point you should be returning to all normal activities, exercising will help. Watch your diet and avoid salty foods. It can take up to 6 months to achieve your final result.

Thank you for your question. After liposuction there is a process of swelling and bruising that peaks at 3 days after surgery and then undergoes the first stage of major resolution in the first 2 weeks after surgery.  The later phase of healing takes place over the 2-3 months after surgery where everything really settles and softens.  It is after this time that we are getting close to the final result, though this varies patient to patient. It can take up to 6 months to see the final results.

Swelling can last 3-6 months after your procedure. I recommend adding hyperbaric oxygen and lymphatic massage along with your compression to help decrease swelling. To improve your final results, I also recommend adding vanquish for further fat removal, exilis/venus legacy for skin tightening, cellutone/z wave to make the skin smooth, remove scar tissue, and improve the skin’s appearance. Hi, the uncomfortable feeling last even longer for some patients, and for others it goes away after the first month. It is difficult to asses based on pictures alone, I recommend you contact your doctor to be reassured, he will tell you if he considers necessary for an appointment earlier than two weeks. Final results after liposuction text time.
I typically tell my patients the results will be close to final around six weeks Final or close to final by three months and final at six months.
When patients are still show signs of inflammation then the final results will take longer.
It's not unusual for patients to have firm lumps though these are generally resolved by six weeks in my experience.
As long as you're feeling tenderness at the firm areas they're still information and your results will most likely change over time.
The recovery from liposuction varies substantially based on how aggressive the treatment was done.
Aggressive liposuction and sometimes indicated in order to get the best results.
I personally have found recovery takes longer when general anesthesia is used.
When the procedure is done using local Anastasia the patient can be moved into different positions in the hand thing debility to perform liposuction without disturbing the muscle layers.
Patients will also show discomfort during the procedure while awake if the muscle layers are being touched by the liposuction cannula. This allows the doctor to adjust how the procedure is performed.
Time should make everything better and hopefully your results will continue to improve wish they should.
Based on your profile pictures you were here to have some abdominal bulging.
This is most likely from with her muscle separation from previous pregnancies, excess intra-abdominal fat or a combination of both.
Overall it looks like a very nice result.
