How many inches are lost around the waist after a tummy liposuction?

I have three children & my waist measures 38 inches, I would like to know the kind of liposuction that can be performed to reduce tummy size to about 28 inches. Also I want to know if I would have to wear a corset around my waist after the liposuction & for how long. What would be the estimated cost involved for this kind of a surgery?

You have to acknowledge that a protruding abdomen is caused by many reasons and you or your doctor have to determine in order to offer the best procedure to achieve the most beautiful result.A)Overweight (BMI over 30) which means that your waist is wide because of the fat is around your waist under the skin and the combination with fat inside the abdominal cavity, so liposuction will not be very helpful to reduce measurements. You have to lose weight prior surgery to achieve the best result.B)Loose muscle because of your prior pregnancies, so liposuction will not help much on achieving a small waist. I find it almost impossible to predict changes and waist circumference because of liposuction. It depends on the amount and location of the fat as well as variables in the body skeleton.

Thank you for your question. A common misconception is that liposuction can be used as a weight loss tool. Liposuction is indicated to contour areas of the body that have stubborn pockets of fat that are resistant to diet and exercise. There is no way to predict a change in waist size after any type of procedure. If a patient does undergo liposuction, I recommend the use of a compression garment for up to four weeks afterward.

It sounds like you need a serious reality check. That 10 inch waist reduction is not going to happen. The smaller you are the better the results from liposuction. If your BMI is over about 29-30 you are definitely not a candidate for surgery, but rather for first entering into a serious weight loss and exercise program, otherwise you will spend thousands on the surgery and feel like you wasted you money.

An exam is needed to see if you are even a candidate for liposuction.  Possibly most of your bulging is due to muscle separation.  Or bulging can be caused by internal fat.  In either case you will not benefit from liposuction.   If you have external fat this can be removed by liposuction.  I prefer Vaser Ultrasonic liposuction but all forms of liposuction work very well.  The number of inches lost depend on amount of fat removed.   You may be a candidate for tummy tuck only.
