Age 27, male. Should I stop Minoxidil 6 months before getting a hair transplant for more graft implantation? (Photo)

Question

i leave Minox and fin before 2 months because hair always falls out when I leave these medicine. So I'm thinking if I leave minox and fin then doctor plant maximum graft and easy to find existing hair. If I continue Minoxidil doctor implant less graft cause Minoxidil grow my hair more which is temporary. Please dr. suggest me should I continue Minoxidil or not?  I attached some images, please tell me how many grafts I need for good density. Doctor said 4000 grafts. Is it correct in your opinion?

I typically advise patients to halt use of minoxidil one day prior to the procedure.   It is recommended to restart minoxidil about 7 days post-op and/or when the transplant scabbing has mainly cleared.  If you are taking Finasteride this does not have to be stopped at anytime prior or after your procedure.  Seeing your how your pattern is developing, continue use of minox and fin will be important in stabilizing your hair loss progression over time.

it is better to  continue to  use minox before  and after the surfgery  in  order to  boost hair growth .  I think  you  need at least 4000  grafts but it is very  diffucult to  harvest  that much  in a single session , it may  cause decimated donor area !

Hello.This is a very interesting question.Well, the whole idea of taking finasteride and minoxidil is that you do not need any transplant in future. Please note that hair transplant is not a hair to hair replacement and is NEVER a very high density procedure. If you are experiencing side effects or are 100% sure that you dont want any long term meds, then only stop. Talk to.your dermatologist in detail.Again, it cant be stated enough that a hair transplant doesn't do what meds can.I hope that I am making sense here. Looking at it the other way,You do decide to.stop the meds and experience hair loss again. Do not go for hair transplant till your blandness has reasonably matured. Or be prepared for multiple procedures.Now, if you want to undergo hair transplant for an area which has reasonable hair but is less dense, then whether to do hair transplant or not is very tricky and is decided on case to case basis. You may get a bit more aggressive with the frontal area but go slow with your vertex. Vertex should best be left alone till the baldness has completely. matured.

If you have been on minoxidil and then want to do a hair transplant, you should maintain the minoxidil until the day before the surgery and pick up on it again within a week after the hair transplant
