8 months after rhinoplasty - can my nose still change?

Question

Hello, I had rhinoplasty 8 months ago and there are a few things that I am still not happy with. Since the cast came off, I noticed I still had a bump on my nose, which is still there after 8 months. One side of my nose looks different than the other, one is more defined, the other not at all. My bridge is still crooked and the inside of my nose seems to be full of bumps, especially the left side. Whenever I ask my surgeon, he just tells me that I should be patient. Can my nose still change? Ty

Hello, and thank you for your question. It isn't until a full year after rhinoplasty, around 12-14 months (longer for some patients), that nose reshaping results are truly definitive. So yes, since your nose is still recovering, it will still change. It is premature to assume you’ve already achieved your full results. Patience is key for now. If after a full year you are still unhappy with your results, I recommend scheduling an in-person consultation with a reputable board-certified facial plastic surgeon, particularly one with a strong rhinoplasty portfolio. Your surgeon will evaluate your nose, recommend the best procedure to address your concerns and goals, and help ensure the best possible outcome.

Your nose will continue to change as it heals for 1-2 years (and sometimes even longer). Unless there is something clearly amiss from your initial surgery, 8 months is a little premature to jump into a revision surgery. Follow up with your surgeon, discuss your concerns with her/him, and give your nose time to reach its final appearance.
