I got my rhinoplasty exactly six months ago. My nose was very swollen initially and over the months my swelling has gone down. But I still do feel as if my nose looks uneven and swollen. Will this swelling go down or will it just stay in this shape?

Hi, 6 months is still early and it can improve some but might not improve all the way.  First thing to do is to look at your before photos.  If the unevenness was there, then it might be how your nose structure is, and surgery might not improve it.  If it was not there, it is either swelling, or structural asymmetry made by the first surgery, and in a year, can warrant a secondary rhinoplasty if it still bothers you. You can also try some steroid injections.

Hello, and thanks for your question. Noses take a very long time to heal. It can take up to a year for the swelling to completely subside and healing to complete. I know it is difficult to wait this long because you really want to see the final results, so patience is key. If, at 1 year, you still don't have the results, then you should speak with your surgeon and see what can be done.

How long does swelling last after a Rhinoplasty? Swelling after rhinoplasty and the scar tissue that forms underneath the skin can take at least a year to resolve, and even more in thick skinned individuals. So unless something is very wrong, which does not appear to be the case from your picture, be patient and give it a few more months at least. Sometimes scar tissue in the area of the supratip can be managed with a tiny dose of Cortizone injection. Some surgeons inject this after 4 to 6 months others may wait as long as a year. Speak to your surgeon after a few months if things aren’t improving to your liking.

Six months is the beginning of the time period to assess final results.  Results may take longer in thick sjinned or revision patients.  Wait for abt 3 additional months, then d/w your surgeon your concerns.
