4 weeks post breast lift/augmentation. I have a pinhole around my nipple, leaking clear liquid. Is this normal?

I had a mastopexy of the left breast with an augmentation 4 weeks ago, my wound has healed well with no issues. I just saw my surgeon's PA last week. However when I was doing my scar therapy massage a small piece of dead skin pulled away on my nipple incision and it has leaked a small amount of clear fluid. I do not have any redness or additional pain. Should I try to go back to my surgeon, the only reason I am asking here is because of the 2 hour drive!

I understand that you are experiencing some symptoms after your surgery. I believe that it would be best that you visit your plastic surgeon for an in-person examination. This way, you will be properly assessed and the best course of treatment necessary will be initiated right away.

I would not worry at all.  It is probably just a retained suture that is still dissolving internally.  I would just apply some antibiotic ointment once a day over the next week and it will be fine.  I hope this helps.

It could have been a stitch abscess, but without photos or better yet an exam in person, it is hard to say.  You are always best to review with your doc in person.

Incisional drainage after breast augmentation and lift may simply represent a slight healing delay which will resolve spontaneously or may be the beginning of a complication. The reported lack of redness or pain is a good sign. I recommend that you make your surgeon aware of this problem and ask if he / she feels it is necessary to come in for evaluation. I also recommend that you keep the area covered with sterile gauze, changed frequently, until evaluated.
