I am prone to fibrosis after effects in my under chin area from lipo. Does wearing a facial head band wrap help to avoid this happening again like my prior lipo? Or needed for trying to avoid fibrosis? I'm tired of having to do CO2 core laser sessions under my chin after surgery to dissolve the fibrosis - that's the only thing that breaks the fibrosis down for me. 2) What's your opinion on some type of hand held suction device for lipo under the chin?

Answer: Complex situation I think your situation is complex and no one is going to give you a good answer based on limited information. It sounds like you’ve already had liposuction of your chin that wasn’t done correctly. The term fibrosis is often used for patients who have been over treated often with the use of VASER. The problem is usually not scar tissue but rather that too much fat was removed and it was done so in an uneven fashion.Add a minimum you need to show pictures and give a full history including previous procedures With timelines.I suggest you discuss your concerns with your provider. To answer your question. Most providers are going to recommend some type of compression device after Liposuction. Whether these serve any purpose or not it’s a matter of discussion. I personally do not place much importance on pressure garments and do not believe they contribute to final results. The same goes for massage. If Liposuction is done correctly results will follow consistently and predictably. when Liposuction is done incorrectly results will be bad and there is no nonsurgical treatment that will alleviate the primary problem.Best, Mats Hagstrom MD
