I need suggestions of the best plastic surgeons for a wide, big nose.

Question

I want my surgeon to have a lot of experience with this type of nose and can create a nose with a reduced width/ thinner nose. The location does not matter. I am willing to travel for a very good surgeon.

Thank you for your question.  It is good that you are reaching out to find the best surgeon, one who has a lot of experience with doing this procedure a lot.  You definitely want a board certified plastic surgeon, and preferably book two or three consultations with different surgeons.  When you sit down with the surgeon in your consultation, make sure you have questions, and also see before and after photos of his/her work.  Good luck

I recommend talking with your friends/family/doctors and see if they can provide any names for you.  You can also do internet searches for plastic surgeons in your area, and check out their rhinoplasty before/after photos on the website to see if they have experience with noses similar to yours. When doing research for your plastic, it is wise to utilize the Internet, talk to people who have gone through nasal surgery, look at before and after photos, and also have a good discussion with your surgeon to see if he or she fits the bill. There is no best plastic surgeon for rhinoplasty. However, that does not mean that all plastic surgeons excel at rhinoplasty. Consider what your goals are and set realistic expectations.

Hello and thank you for your question.  I suggest you thoroughly research rhinoplasty expert surgeons. There are several conservative changes which could be performed to accomplish what you desire.   It is possible to perform a tip narrowing and refining rhinoplasty.  Your surgeon can accomplish this by trimming, suturing, and reshaping the cartilage in your lower nose.  Cartilage grafts can also be performed to improve the tip refinement. You will likely need osteotomies and may require weir excisions depending on your anatomy.  The most important aspect is to find a surgeon who you are comfortable with.  With good surgical technique, you could have an outstanding result. I recommend that you seek consultation with a qualified board-certified plastic surgeon who can evaluate you in person.Best wishes and good luck.

A full set of facial photographs are required to make any determination about what can and cannot be performed to narrow a wide nose. In many instances, thick skin is a significant contributor to the width of the nose, so it is very important to have realistic expectations with what can and cannot be accomplished with a rhinoplasty procedure. To narrow wide nostrils requires an alar plasty procedure. To narrow the tip requires suture techniques and a conservative cartilage removal when necessary. To narrow the bridge line requires osteotomies placed in the nasal bones.  Digital computer imaging would be helpful in communication process between the patient and the surgeon.  For many examples and more information, please see link and the video below

Many surgeons can treat a wide bulbous nose. The problem that most will have is dealing with thick oily skin. It is difficult to refine noses with very thick skin.

Thanks for your question. I would encourage you to seek an expert Rhinoplasty surgeon in your area. There are many options and techniques for making a nose less wide and smaller. The real challenge is finding a surgeon who uses techniques that also improve or preserve your breathing. Many plastic surgeons are less experienced and adept with handling the functional aspects of the nose. In my opinion you should seek a true Rhinoplasty surgeon as opposed to a "jack of all trades". While credentials are important, experience is everything.  Do not settle for less when considering the best surgeon to perform your Rhinoplasty surgery.   Do your homework, both on the internet and by talking with friends and family. Research the surgeons within the region you are willing to travel to. Begin by seeking out Board-Certified Facial Plastic Surgeon's who have a great deal of experience with nasal surgery.   During your consultation, the surgeon should be able to show you several before and after photos that are similar to your case.
