Cleaning dry blood from nose, seems to be caught on stitches.

Question

I have a big lump of blood ready to come out right near tip inside of nose, but it feels like it's stuck on my stitches. It's annoying cos it's just hanging. Is there a safe way to remove it?

If one has dried blood on a stitch it would be wise to discuss this with your surgeon. However, this can sometimes be easily removed by applying some hydrogen peroxide which loosens up the scab easily. Your surgeon may recommend an antimicrobial cream to be placed on it.

Hello, you can try some hydrogen peroxide on the end of a qtip. The peroxide should help to break up the blood and free it from the stitch. Good Luck.

Thank you for your question. You may try some nasal saline spray from Boots and that should help loosen the blood clot.Ivo

Check in with your surgeon.  I have my patients carefully use a Q-Tip with antibotic ointment to help loosen the blood.
