I tried chin exercises specifically chin ups, and I ended up overworking the platysma muscle/ chin muscles. I stopped 6 months ago, and The muscles have been slightly sore/tight ever since. Can I still do the procedure? Or should I get physical therapy, and try to get rid of the tightness/ soreness first. I want the procedure to get rid of my double chin.
Answer: Chin lipo Chin lipo removes the subcutaneous "skin" fat that lies over the platysma muscle of the neck. Your sore neck muscles should have no bearing on the surgery. That said you should be evaluated by a professional to make sure that your neck and spine are ok and that there is not any serious underlying injury. 6 months is a long time to feel sore. If you are a candidate for chin lipo then it should not interfere. See an experienced board certified surgeon to see if chin lipo can help you or of you need something more like a neck lift in addition.

Answer: Sore from neck exercise? Neck liposuction candidate This is best answered with an in-person consultation, but yes, you should be able to have liposuction. Neck liposuction is a great option for patients with good skin elasticity and excess fat in the neck and around the jawline. This will remove excess fat and stimulate the skin to contract over time which will improve angulation and definition along the jawline. I recommend seeing an expert for a consultation who can go over this procedure to determine if it will achieve your desired results and the cost of the procedure. I hope this helps!

Answer: I want chin lipo. But my neck has been sore from doing chin exercises, can I still do the procedure? Hello,Thanks for your question. If you have excess fat of the neck, you may be a good candidate for neck liposuction. The soreness from the chin won't stop you from getting a good result by a good surgeon. Do your homework and pick a board-certified plastic surgeon or facial plastic surgeon to perform your procedure. They will examine you to make sure there isn't something else going on to account for the ongoing soreness.Good luck,Dr. Shah

Answer: Chin Liposuction The chin or neck exercises will not, and can not improve the neck contour, or eliminate bands or sagging, or get rid of a double chin. Dieting and being in good health can improve a heavy or double chin. The soreness or the exercises would not interfere with liposuction, and it may be an option. Please consult with an experience facial plastic surgeon to discuss your options.

Answer: Fat in the right places Yes you can go ahead with this procedure. The muscles of the neck and tongue in conjunction with the only free floating bone in the body (the hyoid bone) are the limitations of what you are trying to obtain so it was worth a shot trying to tighten them. After palpating that bone and those muscles you could get a better idea of what can be obtained. This area can have persistent fat in even very thin patients. So it is all about having fat in the right places. Sometimes we even move this fat to another area to help define the jawline or cheekbones. If you are not interested in moving the fat then we can use fillers such as restylane of juvederm to give some definition along with sculpting the jawline and neck. We would need to do a good physical exam on you to determine exactly but we typically remove that layer of fat beneath the skin and allow the skin to fibrose to the muscle of the neck. It is not uncommon to combine this procedure with other fat sculpting techniques such as buccal fat removal. Hope this helps. Best of luck, DrC
