Smart Lipo before VSG weight loss surgery?

I am going to have VSG weight loss surgery late December. I have my most fat in my upper arms and my inner thighs. I am afraid I will end up with loose skin on those areas. I am wondering if I get smart Lipo procedure done on those 2 areas prior to my surgery and the mass weight loss will I have a better chance on not having loose skin as I imagine both of those areas will lose fat and be tighter due to smart lipo prior to surgery.

No, this will result in loose skin. Smart Lipo is good for removing stubborn areas of fat, but lacks skin tightening and body shaping. For best results, it is recommended to be at your ideal or stable weight before getting a sculpting liposuction procedure. With skin laxity, a tummy tuck or lifting procedure could be performed at the same time as high definition liposuction, like VASER HI DEF. Planning Smartlipo prior to your weight loss surgery won't work as a preventative measure to keep your skin from looking loose afterwards. It's impossible to predict how much skin laxity will be noticeable after weight loss. I suggest focusing on reaching your goal weight right now and maintaining that steadily for at least 6 months before proceeding with body contouring.

i agree with the doctor below suggestion, if you are planning on losing a significant amount of weight, it makes more sense to lose all of that weight and then see the condition of your skin. if it is very loose, then you will need to consider a TT etc. there is no good reason to do Smartlipo before you have a significant weight loss.david berman md

Liposuction is for contouring and even with SMART lipo the skin ends up looser if a lot of fat is removed.  If you are planning a large weight loss I would definitely recommend not having liposuction or any plastic surgery until the weight loss is complete.   Your body will be completely different after the weight loss and the areas that bother you now may not be the same after weight loss.
