I'm currently taking Humira for UC can I get a rhinoplasty while I'm on it?

it is hard to tell for sure without an examination. Your ulcerative colitis should be under control and you will need a clearance from your doctor. If you are considering a surgery, I would suggest you to consult a board-certified plastic surgeon. Only after a thorough examination you will get more information and recommendations.

You should check with your surgeon about all medications you are in. I don’t think the humira would be a problem but I don’t know for sure.

rhinoplasty is a completely elective operation. therefore we don't like to add additional risk factors to a surgery that should nearly 100% of the time be without complication. the reality is that if it's possible to wait to come off the humira, that would be safest, as your risk of an infection etc would be better. However, if you're going to be on it perfectly you may find a surgeon willing to do it, as long as you understand the risks are higher and you talk about those risks. Good luck!

You should discuss what medications, supplements, and vitamins you are taking, both prescription and over the counter, with your plastic surgeon and have him or her decide what you should and should not be taking. Your surgeon should be certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery and ideally a member of the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ASAPS). In addition you should have medical clearnce from your primary physician or gastroenterologist.

It is always best to check with your operative surgeon about medications and a Rhinoplasty. In our practice, we asked patients to withhold that medication for several weeks before and after the procedure

The simple answer is yes if cleared by your internist. Do go on some complimentary consultations with experts that use digital photography to show you what can be accomplished with your nose and how it might be done and then look at photos of similar patients and become fully informed about the desired procedure
