A doctor from France tell me he had 2 lipomas he got rid using blood thinners. Can blood thinners be used to get rid of lipomas.

Never heard of this. If the lipoma is subcutaneous and is pressing on a nerve, it can be removed. It is not actually in the nerve or part of the nerve fiber. There are Schwannomsas that do involve the nerve itself. Sounds like this is not that. So going to a good plastic surgeon, hand surgeon, should allow removal without hurting the nerve. You did refer to your liver, so if this is actually an intraabdominal lipoma, it is a different story, but if so I can't think of what nerve you believe is involved. Most of these lipomas are on the extemities and may put pressure on a cutaneous sensory nerve.

Thank you for your question and I am sorry to hear of the issues your lipomas appear to be causing. Unfortunately only surgery is a permanent solution when attempting lipoma removals.  Less invasive methods will most likely leave tissue behind that can recur.

sorry to hear this issue . i never heard about blood thinner for lipoma cure. few lipoma forums discuss lipid lowering agents for lipoma treatments , but we need to wait for strong scientific evidence. only we left with surgical options .

The only way to permanently remove lipomas is with surgery.  See a board certified surgeon for an exam.

I'm unaware of this as an acceptable or effective method of removing lipomas.  However, smaller and more superficial lipomas can usually be removed using very small incisions, directly over each one.  I'd suggest looking for a board-certified plastic surgeon near you to assess the lipomas and see if they can all be done during one procedure, using sedation or deeper anesthesia if necessary and if you want.I hope that this helps and good luck,Dr. Alan EnglerMember of #RealSelf100
