First, excess unwanted fat is harvested from the patient’s flank lumbar region, and occasionally the upper thighs using liposuction techniques. This part of the procedure not only provides the fat necessary for later injection, but also allows the plastic surgeon to sculpt and contour a beautiful silhouette around the buttocks. Before the actual Brazilian Butt Lift surgery your doctor will determine the optimal site from which to harvest fat, taking into consideration the patient’s stature, current shape, and desires. The collected processed fat is then placed in special cannulas and injected through two small incisions (less than 1-cm) into the superior-medial buttocks, just above the gluteal muscle. Studies utilizing magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) to investigate fat survival following gluteal augmentation have shown that proper handling and placement of the fat in a supramuscular plane (i.e. above the muscle) is important to avoid cellular damage and ensure long-term, predictable graft survival. This part of the procedure allows your doctor to precisely place volume where it is needed to give the illusion of a “lift” while forming a sexy and well-proportioned buttocks, without the scars and extra surgery traditionally needed.
It is possible to take the fat from your abdomen to enhanceyour buttock, hips and overall shape however typically patients need more fatfor their buttock augmentation than can be harvested just from the abdomen. Brazilian butt lift is so popular because itenables your plastic surgeon to transform your entire shape. Liposuction is performed over several areasdepending on the individual patient needs, but typically of the flanks, abdomen, back and thighs. Thisliposculpting is what is going to enhance your overall figure! The amount of fat needed depends on the shape and needs ofeach individual patient, however in general at least 500cc per buttock need tobe placed to see a significant difference. On average patients typicallyreceive around 800cc per buttock side for a total of 1600cc of fattransfer. However just like a breastaugmentation the amount of fat needed various from patient to patients. Also the sculpting done with the liposuction isa big part of the procedure to improve the overall shape. When considering this procedure it is very important thatyou have your procedure performed by a board certified plastic surgeon. In general of the procedures that I perform this is onewhere patients tend to be universally extremely happy. I hope this helps.
Large volume fat transfer for buttocks augmentation is very popular at this time and can be performed safely. Make sure you choose a plastic surgeon who does this procedure frequently. Some people caution that this trend or fad of having a large, full behind may not be considered aesthetically pleasing in the future. Also, after menopause in some patients, there is a concern that the transferred fat may grow abnormally. You should also consider the risks involved (such as death from fat embolism) before you decide to have this procedure performed. Prices vary but to have this done safely be prepared to spend over $10K.
You need a formal evaluation by an expert in body shaping and contouring to determine what is best. The best in body contouring not only removes fat with energy devices like VASER ultrasound but also internally heats the skin with radiofrequency devices such as Renuvion (J-Plasma), InMode BodyTite, and ThermiRF to heat the undersurface of the skin and tighten it at the same time as fat removal. These combinations are called 4D HI-DEF VASER Liposuction and can only be done by a well-trained body contouring specialist. At the same time, fat should be harvested and purified, with PRP and stem cells added, and then injected into muscles, indentations and cellulite to get body shaping and contouring. For a Brazilian butt lift (BBL), we inject the fat into the buttock for contouring and lifting, but fat can also be used in areas such as the chest/breast, arms/shoulders, calves and face. Cellulite should also be treated with a combination of Cellfina, subcision, and/or fillers such as Bellafill, Renuva synthetic fat, or Sculptra. If skin is very loose before surgery, then it will need to be removed: tummy tuck/abdominoplasty for lower abdominal skin; breast lift for excess breast skin; and/or a brachioplasty for loose arm skin. Thank you for your question. It's difficult to give exact recommendations without photos, or an in person consultation as each person is very different and has specific needs and goals. Generally speaking, fat transfer is a great option for patients at a stable weight who wish to move some stubborn fat to their buttocks to get a more aesthetic shape. Your surgeon will remove fat from you abdomen and flanks, will then centrifuge the fat and re-inject it strategically into the bum and hips as needed. Keep in mind that 60% of this fat lives forever, so your surgeon will over-inject initially for best results. Make sure the surgeon you're working with is board certified and has expertise in this area.
