Can the septum deviate again after hit by a ball post septoplasty?

I had a septoplasty and turbinectomy 3 weeks ago and yesterday i played basketball and i got accidentally hit on the nose by the ball. It did not bleed but it hurt for a while. Today my nose feel a little bit swollen and congested than before. Will this affect the overall outcome of the surgery?

Yes you can injure the septum again.  Make an appointment to be seen and examined again by your surgeon to evaluate the septum. Hopefully everything is stable.

Hello Mabella27The septum certainly can deviate again after surgery.  This is especially true this soon after surgery.  The fact you didn't bleed is a good sign but the swelling indicates you at least had some trauma.  You will have a better idea of whether there was any damage when you see your surgeon for follow up.  I hope this helps and good luck.

Mabella, sorry to hear about your trauma. The nose is more susceptible to injuries during the early post operative and recovery period.  given your swelling and congestions it's certainly possible that the septum could be injured.  Your best bet would be to visit with your nasal surgeon so he can best evaluate  and advise.Good luck!
