A septoplasty is performed in the back of the nose to improve airflow dynamics, and has no bearing on the shape of the nose. A rhinoplasty procedure is performed to improve the overall cosmetic appearance. Both a septoplasty and a rhinoplasty procedures can be performed together when necessary. The septum is the partition inside your nose that divides the nose into two compartments. This partition is often naturally crooked, obstructing one or both airways. A septoplasty is an operation designed to straighten this partiion and get better airflow through the nose. A septoplasty by itself is not an operation to change the way the nose looks. .A rhinoplasty changes the way a nose looks.
