Hello and thank you for posting photos along with your question. From your photos, it appears that you have some fullness in the lower abdomen right above the scar. Liposuction to that area would likely improve the difference between the area above and below the scar. your scar has healed so nicely I don't know if you should go messing with the actual scar itself. Hope this helps and wish you all the best!
Abdominoplasty scars can be quite complex, ranging from the simple hypertrophic scar to a multiplane inflamed keloid. Pigmentation, discoloration, chronic inflammation, scar visibility can all occur in the short term. We begin each treatment with combination therapy using Yellow broadband BBL, Vbeam, fractional erbium, intralesional IIT, and scar modulation. Start with a combination of Plato's Scar Serum massaged twice daily after one week of epithelialization followed by Luminase/Exfolase. Scar consultation and revision may be recommended. Great question! Yes, I do think that you can have something done to help with the "ridge." Although your scar seems to have healed nicely (the skin component), the little bit of contour irregularity can be addressed with a scar revision by a plastic surgeon who will take into account the deeper layers during closure to create a more soft and flat area.. Best of Luck!
If this contour is caused from subcutaneous fat then some localized liposuction should improve it. This can often be corrected using local anesthesia. See your surgeon for an evaluation. I've included a video that I hope you find helpful.
The slight irregularity or indentation from the tummy tuck scar is not uncommon when the scar is placed higher in the pubic area. I generally like to place the scar very low in the pubic area in order to prevent this type of problem and allow the scar to be concealed even if you wear low riding lingerie or bikini bottoms. Liposuction above the scar could be performed to even the contour. Please select a plastic surgeon board certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery and preferably a member of the American Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons, (ASAPS).
A scar revision would probably be best for you. Speak to your Plastic Surgeon about your concerns. Usually a scar revision can be done in-office under local anesthesia. Skin and fat should be removed in your case, in order to create a flatter appearance. I hope this was helpful to you. Best Wishes,-Dr. B.
Using compression garments after surgery can help to manage swelling and give support to healing tissues. I advise my patients to wear compression for three to four weeks. This can vary by patient circumstance as well as surgeon preference, so it is best to check with your surgeon.
Traditional tummy tuck was simply elevation of the abdominal skin and removal of excess skin with possible muscle tightening. Many North American surgeons used to avoid adding liposuction to a tummy tuck out of a fear that it can increase risk of complications. That notion has now been...
Hello and thank you for posting photos along with your question. If your abdominal muscles were tightened then you should see a significant difference before and after the tummy tuck. Tightening of the abdominal muscles is the strongest tool for flattening the stomach. If you felt as though you ...
Congratulations on your surgery and thank you for the question! It's good to feel tight, you had surgery to feel tighter! Talk to your surgeon before starting any exercise, especially that you did not do anything for the last 4 months. You should be ok to start exercising, you need low weights,...
I seriously doubt that Medicare will cover the procedure. Because Medicare doesn’t preauthorize procedures there is no way to know for sure ahead of time. Therefore your surgeon will expect payment ahead of time. You can always try billing Medicare but your chances of success are slim.
Unfortunately, this is not all that uncommon when there is a vertical component to the tunny tuck. It is a result of inadequate blood supply. In the vast majority of cases this will heal over time simply with good local wound care. Of course, this was not what you had hoped for and it often...
