Had PRP for hair loss and nurse told me to take ibuprofen. Now I know this can negate the effects of the PRP. What should I do?

My PRP was done this past Tuesday and I took 2 pills that day and 2 pills Wednesday. Can I ask for another session with no charge? I was not properly informed on which medications I was able to take and received no document or anything explaining the procedure and post-care. I am concerned that I have paid a huge amount of money for a session that might not be effective. Any suggestions on how to approach this?

In my opinion, ibuprofen should not materially affect the results of your PRP. It may lead to some increased bleeding and possibly a collection of blood. This may lead to an increase in inflammation, however it's impossible to predict the amount or effect.PRPHAIRMD.COM

PRP does not work through a pro-inflammatory pathway so Ibuprofen does not effect the actual mechanism of action of PRP.Ibuprofen can increase bleeding and red blood cells may interfere with PRP however this seems more theoretical than clinical.

I am not aware of any evidence that Ibuprofen would effect your PRP results. It is unlikely that your use of Ibuprofen will negate the effects of your PRP treatment.   Be sure to follow up with your doctor. Best of luck!

Aspirin, ibuprofen, and naproxen are in a drug class called NSAIDS (non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs). They reduce pain, reduce fever, and in higher does, have anti-inflammatory effects. They also have anti-clotting actions, meaning that minor bleeding may occur at the PRP injection sites. The effect of this minor bleeding may result in  pain in the injected areas. While the pain may be bothersome, unless the bleeding were considerable, I am not aware of  any evidence that it would have an adverse impact on the treatment itself.
