I am 7 weeks PO on a pormaty rhinoplasty that was supposed to refine the tip, lift the tip, and straighten the nose. My nose is not straight, my tip is still droopy, and my nose is even bigger than it was before. On top of that I have more nostril show, the causal end of my septum is laying in my left nostril, and my septum is buckled on the inside. How did all this happen? I was hoping for an inpotvemebt, but now I'm in tears at the almost double its going to cost me to fix these errors. Why?

Answer: Why Is My Nose Bigger After Rhinoplasty? My best advice is to contact your surgeon. There is always a period of swelling postoperatively that can disguise the result, and a nose can seem, in some ways, bigger or at least the same size; however, after the swelling dissipates, the beauty of the result can be seen. We surgeons want our patients to call with questions; that is why we are here. I always encourage my patients to reach out to me should any concerns arise. So please, rather than shedding tears, reach for the phone and call your surgeon.

Answer: Nose bigger after rhinoplasty? How is this possible? Hello lookitscrystal,I am sorry to hear about your post operative course. Without standard view photos at specific angles it makes it harder to compare the before and after result. As far as the size, the nose tends to hold on to swelling more than most areas, especially at the tip. So you can still expect to see improvement in the tip definition. As far as what you are feeling on the inside of the nose with a buckled septum and the caudal septum in the left nasal cavity, that would have to be assessed in person and the operative report evaluated to determine what is going on. At this point the best action is to continue to follow up with your surgeon. For the swelling there are injections that can be given to help with the swelling and improve definition if it is a result of extra scar tissue trying to form. For the septum at 7 weeks out if that is the problem then it may benefit from a future surgery. If you are not happy with your surgeon then you may consider getting a second opinion about what is taking place. Keep in mind that most surgeons would not consider any revision until at least 6 months and preferably up to a year to allow for the swelling to go away.I hope this helps and good luck.
