Hollow area under cheekbones after facelift and rhinoplasty. 6 weeks post-op.

Question

I still have numbness and hardness all in front of my ear sutures. I've noticed a depression/ hollowness between cheekbones and jaw area and people thinks my face has changed and think I lost weight because of that. Is that normal at this point of time and is it gonna be better later on?

Thank you for your question.  My strong advice is to wait a full 4-6 months before considering the result of your procedure.  You likely are still quite swollen at 6 weeks.  Best of luck.

Before anyone can advise you, it would be best if you would provide before and after photos.  In all likelihood, most of the hardness and numbness will resolve with time.  Discuss your concerns with your physician at your next appointment.

Thank you for your question. Without before and after photos, it is hard to tell what you are explaining. I recommend directing all of your concerns at this point, directly to your surgeon, but a final result can take anywhere from 4 to 6 months.

After Facelift surgery it is not uncommon to have temporary numbness and firmness around the surgical area that should in time resolve.  As far as hollow areas under cheek bones would have to see photos to see if this is just surrounding post operative swelling-would talk to your surgeon with these concerns.Good luck on your recovery!!

Hello Mayasa,Without pictures it is very hard to comment on what is normal and not.  As far as numbness, that is very common at 6 weeks in front of and even behind the ears. Hardness may be normal but it may be a sign of excess scar tissue depending on how it looks.  As far as people saying you appear like you lost weight that is often a good outcome from a facelift.  If you are bothered by that you should consider following up with your surgeon to discuss your concerns.I hope this helps and good luck.
