The doctor recommended a large or extra large. I said extra large right away because I was excited lol Do you think an extra large implant will be too big? Is there such a thing?
Answer: Chin implant . An important consideration when contemplating chin augmentation with implant is the three-quarter view on the oblique view. In principle, the easiest part of the planning is the true profile with alignment of the contours but the reason why sometimes people dislike the chin augmentation is the oblique view or the front view rather than the profile. Computer simulation using 3D image can definitely help to understand your goals more accurately and to make sure that your choice is balanced. Your photographs suggest however that a significant part of the perception of the chin size is driven by the contour of the neck where there is some volume excess and possibly a small amount of skin laxity. Reducing the volume excess in the neck dramatically changes the perception of the chin and could make you feel that a smaller implant is absolutely fine. The chin implant has the ability to absorb some of the skin laxity from the neck and from what I can tell in the photographs you would not need any skin tightening with the procedure. The anterior neck lift can be carried out through an incision under the chin and the implant can be inserted through the same access. You can see an example of such a change on my website. It would be worth asking your Surgeon for this option before you commenced to the chin augmentation with the larger implant.

Answer: Chin implants In general, the larger the implant the more wide it may appear on the jawline. I avoid large and extra-large implants in females because it can sometimes make the face less feminine. Based, on your photos, I would consider an implant and simultaneous submental liposuction and jawline liposuction.

Answer: Chin Augmentation When it comes to chin implants you have to think in all three dimensions. The larger the horizontal projection becomes in a chin implant the wider it will become in the front view as well. The most common complaint I see in revision female chin implant cases is that it is too big and/or toowide. The first step is to see computer imaging in all three facial views to determine your tolerance for different types of chin augmentation changes. If the goal is a 'large' amount of horizontal chin augmentation but to keep it narrow in the front view then an implant may not be a god choice...a sliding genioplasty is what is needed for these chin augmentation goals.

Answer: Do you think an extra-large chin implant is too big? In our practice, is very rare to put a size large chin implant in a woman. Most of the implant sizes that we use would be a size medium. You also have significant fat deposits in the neck located above and below the platysma muscle which will require a neck lift with the platysma plasty to improve. A neck lift would also be complementary to augmenting your chin forward.
