This birthmark goes up to my knee and a patch of the birthmark on the back of my knee.

Vbeam laser is an excellent modality for patients who have rosacea, blushing of the skin, facial and body telangiectasia, spider veins, redness, post surgical redness, and skin flushing. It is a safe procedure that can be used at varying depths to help treat micro blood vessels in the skin. We also use it in our office for facial skin inflammation, keloids, and hypertrophic scarring. It is an important part of scar therapy. Vbeam can be combined with chemical peels and other lasers, but experience with the treatment is essential. The Vbeam laser does not affect deeper tissue. For treatment of Port Wine Stains, I like the yellow laser the best but pulsed dye or excel V are good alternatives.  IPL can work but often has higher recurrence rates. Unfortunately, cost cannot be determined without an in person evaluation. Best, Dr. Emer.

Firstly, I can not comment on the costs, as I do not know your insurance policy. In Australia, 6 treatments are subsidised by Medicare per year, and a Medicare threshold applies. See video for the prognosis of their port wine stain in this location.
