Bruising after BodyTite on knees and thighs 3 days ago, is this normal? Will it go away?

Did bodytite lips on knees and thighs. I am 36 yr old weighing 123lbs. 5ft 4 tall. I not too fat but have thick knees and thighs. Its my day 3 after surgery. Immediately after surgery i didn't see any bruising. I have been wearing the compression garment and today i noticed that i am bruised a lot. Is this normal? when will this go away?

Hello and thank you for your question. Bruising after surgery can be a common finding...and yes...there are times where the bruising shows up a day or 2 after surgery, or the bruising you see can worsen before it gets better. I tell my patients to drink pineapple juice because there is supposed to be an enzyme in pineapple juice that can help with bruising. This is only if there are no allergies to pineapples of course! To determine whether the bruising is "normal" or not, this would require you to be evaluated in person so you should see your plastic surgeon and express your concerns at that time. Thank you for your question.It is common for some patients to see delayed bruising. Given that you are only three days out, the bruising may even continue to appear "worse". This is all very normal and nothing to be worried about. Continue with your surgeon's recommended protocol and if the bruising becomes severe, you can always contact your surgeon directly for an evaluation.Best of luck!

Yes, this can be normal and will resolve in a few weeks. I recommend adding lymphatic massage and hyperbaric oxygen along with your compression to decrease swelling and improve healing. Usually a combination approach is needed to improve results. I recommend adding vanquish for further fat removal, exilis/venus legacy for skin tightening, and cellutone/z wave to make the skin smooth. Unfortunately you can bruise after even a Botox injection.  The bruising will subside.  You can use arnica to help speed up the process.

Thank you for asking this question.  It is not uncommon to bruise even after Body Tite.  Although there is typically less than traditional liposuction, it is not concerning.

Thank you for your question. It would not be unusual to see bruising a few days after your BodyTite procedure. It typically takes 10 days to a few weeks for this to resolve. We have all of our BodyTite patients come in for Venus Legacy treatments beginning one week after their BodyTite procedure. We can actually see the bruising diminish on the table over the course of the treatment. This is performed without suction. I suspect it is due to increased blood flow to the tissue pulling away the breakdown of the bruised area. Lymphatic massage is also of benefit. I hope this was helpful - Dr. Moore

Typically one gets minimal bruising from Bodytite. However, knees can be tricky as the effect of gravity and walking can end up in bruising. Either way you should follow up with your doctor but this is not unusual.
