Bruising after BodyTite on knees and thighs 3 days ago, is this normal? Will it go away?

Bruising after surgery can be a common finding...and yes...there are times where the bruising shows up a day or 2 after surgery, or the bruising you see can worsen before it gets better. I tell my patients to drink pineapple juice because there is supposed to be an enzyme in pineapple juice that can help with bruising. This is only if there are no allergies to pineapples of course! To determine whether the bruising is "normal" or not, this would require you to be evaluated in person so you should see your plastic surgeon and express your concerns at that time. Thank you for your question.It is common for some patients to see delayed bruising. Given that you are only three days out, the bruising may even continue to appear "worse". This is all very normal and nothing to be worried about. Continue with your surgeon's recommended protocol and if the bruising becomes severe, you can always contact your surgeon directly for an evaluation.Best of luck!

Bruising can occur after surgery and will usually resolve in a few weeks.  Please followup with your surgeon with concerns.Kenneth Hughes, MD
