If one sees unusual redness occur around an incision, it is time to be evaluated by one's surgeon. Often, an itchy rash in the shape of the bandage or tape used may be due to an allergic reaction to the adhesive in the tape. Also, it could be an allergic reaction called a contact allergy to the skin glue that is sometimes used to help tape stick better. Usually this resolves with time although your surgeon may prescribe a prescription cream that could help this if this is felt to be an allergic reaction.
Thanks for your inquiry, but without an exam it is hard to advise, and yes steri-strips can cause allergic reactions sometimes, good luck.
First of all, it would be best to be seen by your Plastic Surgeon to make sure you don't have an infection. That being said, it is not uncommon to experience a rash (contact dermatitis) from the adhesive on the Steri Strips. In addition, most surgeons apply additional liquid adhesive to help the Steri Strips stick to the skin. A topical cream such as a mild steroid cream may help the rash resolve. Good luck.
Thanks for your question and the photo. It's not uncommon to have some irritation to the adhesive used with steristrips. I would contact your surgeon or at least send the office this photo. They can give you a recommendation. Since the redness doesn't really go beyond the incision it is likely a contact dermatitis and not an infection. Best of Luck!
Thanks for you question and photo. You may be experiencing a reaction to the adhesive on the steri strips or antibiotic ointment if you are applying that to the incision. Please have you surgeon check the area to determine the cause and best course of treatment. Best wishes.
I appreciate your question.Since there has been a change in your post op course, please contact your Surgeon so he/she can examine you and recommend appropriate treatment plan at this time. The best way to assess and givetrue advice would be an in-person exam. Please see a board-certifiedplastic surgeon that specializes in aesthetic and restorative breast surgery.best of luck!Dr Schwartz
Hi, Yamilet123.Allergic reaction to steri strips or glue can occur. Benadryl, antihistamine medications, mild steroid cream can help with your symptoms. However, before applying steroid cream, you want to be evaluated by your plastic surgeon to make sure that the incision has completely healed. Please contact your plastic surgeon for his/her advice.Best regards.
Thanks for posting your question. I am happy to try and help you. It isimportant to remember that a board certified plastic surgeon will be your bestresource when it comes to an accurate assessment of your situation, andconcerns. Having said that, a topical ointment that is recommended by your PS should befollowed. If it does not improve you should go see your PS.Best wishes,Dr. Michael J. Your description is of allergic reaction. It could be from anything that came in contact with this area of your body. It could even be your antibiotic ointment. Seek furthersuggestion from your surgeon.
