I had my BA exactly 2 weeks ago today. I am experiencing pain in my left breast. It is swollen and hurts to touch around the side and bottom. My right breast is completely fine. No pain or swelling at all. Is it normal for one to heal slower than the other? The thing that worries me is the pain started after I carried my backpack to work. I am seeing the nurse on Friday for my checkup.
Answer: Pain in left breast after carrying bag. Is it normal for one to heal slower than the other? I appreciate your question. Yes it is normal for implants to heal at different rates. Since there has been a change in your post op course, I would recommend following up with your Surgeon so he/she can examine you and recommend most appropriate treatment plan at this time. The best way to assess and give true advice would be an in-person exam. Please see a board-certified plastic surgeon that specializes in aesthetic and restorative breast surgery. best of luck! Answer: Post op pain after breast augmentation Hi, Thanks for posting your question. I am happy to try and help you. It is important to remember that a board certified plastic surgeon will be your best resource when it comes to an accurate assessment of your situation, and concerns. Having said that, I am sorry to learn about your pain. It seems like you are having some nerve pain and maybe some muscle spasm. Sometimes after the surgery the patient does not move around a lot and things start to get tight and stiff. When this happens, there can be some aches. So really work on moving around, lifting your arms up and move the arms around. As for the positional pain, it could be nerve related and when the breast implants slides and hits the nerve it can cause a shooting pain towards your breast or even into your back. So do not worry, all of these pains will go away. If a certain activity causes pain, try to figure out a way to avoid it or minimize the load on the muscles. If you feel something is wrong, you should absolutely call your PS. Best wishes, Dr. Michael J. Brown Northern Virginia Plastic Surgeon

Answer: Pain in left breast Thanks for the question. It is very common to have more pain in one breast after augmentation. This can be brought on by increased activity which seems to be the case for you. Typically, pain after breast augmentation is part of normal healing. Rarely, it can be the symptom of something more serious, such as an infection or bleeding. If you experience new onset of pain after augmentation, it is always best to check with your surgeon. Usually just a little reassurance is needed and the pain will dissipate over time.
