Hello surgeons! I know I want a TT of some kind as I have a lot of extra skin. I’m curious if my entire tattoo wld be removed Or just partially? Wld you recommend a full or mini? Also I know everyone heals different but how long is typically needed for recovery? I work a very physical job solo and wanting a good idea of time I will need to take off

You definitely need a full tummy tuck rather than a mini. Your belly button has what we call a "sad face" look, which tells me there's excess skin sitting above it too &mdash; and a mini only tightens the skin below the navel, so it simply wouldn't correct that.
As for your tattoo: most of it sits within the skin we remove, so the bulk of it will come off &mdash; but not all of it, depending on how high it extends.
Recovery is the part patients like you tend to overestimate. Because you're already slim and don't need any added liposuction, your recovery is actually much faster and more comfortable. Liposuction is what drags the process out and causes most of the pain; in a tummy tuck we don't cut the muscle or the deep tissues, so even though the incision is long, there's surprisingly little pain. Most patients in your situation are walking upright and back to work after about a week.
