My chin has a fat protruding bulge. I can wiggle and move it. It has caused me a lot of stress and has made my confidence low. How can i reduce the size of this bulge. Would weight loss effect it? Is there specific surgeries to better the appearance of it or to reduce it in size? I've looked everywhere for options about my issue but I have found absolutely nothing. In my picture you can see how my chin rises up.. its a lot more bigger in person.

From your single photo it is unclear where excess fat might be noted, but I have found that in some patients who come to me with an area of concern that they wiggle and move, it is commonly more loose skin than true fat excess. You don't look very old, your jawline is smooth, and you are pretty, so I'll have to take your word on what you feel to be the problem, since I can't see it in your photo and don't have the benefit of a personal examination. At your age your skin tone/elasticity should be quite firm and good.What I can tell you, however, is that IF you do have localized fat excess, removal is quite easy via direct excision, which is more thorough, precise in terms of hemostasis (avoiding most bleeding or bruising and the resultant scar firmness and swelling), and yielding a smoother result than liposuction. Direct excision is even better than  SmartLipo or ultrasonic liposuction, This area is quite vascular, and it makes no sense to me to remove tiny amounts of fat and replace them with unavoidable bleeding, bruising and resultant scar tissue, swelling, and ridges with blunt liposuction.But what I would be most eager to assess is whether or not your self-assessment is accurate. Appearances can be deceiving, but photos reflect actual appearance, and therefore are very important. But, physical examination trumps even photography, and that is what you need for a detailed analysis, reasoned and experienced review, and expert plastic surgical recommendation.If this is indeed excess fat, weight loss MIGHT affect it, but usually to a minimal degree. This is usually fairly diet-resistant fat that typically responds only to significant weight loss. Bony chin reduction is also possible and a good operation in experienced hands. See one or more ABPS-certified plastic surgeons who are also ASAPS members for consultation. Hi R,You appear to have a crisp jawline and wonderful neck.  Hard to tell from one photo, but your chin may be protruding slightly.  Be sure to see only a board certified plastic surgeon or facial plastic

The photo you submitted shows a protruding chin. This is usually a combination of bone excess and soft tissue. A typical feminine profile shows a chin even with a line drawn downward from the lower lip. If you have a combination of bony protrusion and excess soft tissue, the can be successfully reduced in a one hour procedure involving sculpting the bone and soft tissue. The healing time is typically one week due to swelling and bruising. The final result is seen in 6 -12 months once all of the subtle swelling subsides.

Hi and thanks for your question. It's difficult to tell from the photo you submitted since it's taken at an angle. It appears as though you have a very attractive bone structure and a well defined mandibular line which most women desire. Because I cannot see your neck or right under your chin, I can't say whether or not you would benefit from lipo. It seems to me that your condition could easily improve with some weight loss. How has that worked out for you in the past?

Based on your photo and the limited information I have, it appears your bony chin projection is a little bit extreme.If you have excess bone, then bone reduction would be the procedure of choice.This does not appear to be a fat deposit issue.I suggest you consult with one or more senior experienced plastic surgeons, facial plastic surgeons or cosmetic oral surgeons.Best of luck, Mats Hagstrom, M.D.
